Every year, the Swiss Confederation offers scholarships for excellence in research and the arts. These government scholarships encourage international exchanges and promote collaboration between Switzerland and over 180 countries. They are awarded by the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS).
The Swiss Confederation's scholarships for excellence are aimed at young foreign researchers who have completed their Master's or PhD studies, and at foreign artists with a Bachelor's degree.
Researchers with a master's or doctoral degree in any discipline who wish to carry out a research stay or pursue doctoral or post-doctoral research in Switzerland are eligible for a research grant.
Research grants (internships, doctorates, post-doctorates) are available at all Swiss universities and universities of applied sciences, as well as the two Federal Institutes of Technology and the four research institutes. Only applications supported by an academic advisor at the chosen university are valid.
Art students with a Bachelor's degree who wish to study for their first Master's degree in Switzerland can apply for an art scholarship.
Art scholarships are available for study at all conservatories and art colleges in Switzerland. This offer is limited to certain countries.
